Canary Square Restaurant Review:

Partners Michael Moxley and Jim Cochener of Coda and Common Ground fame are behind this cozy brick-walled gastropub nestled in the former Alchemist space in Jamaica Plain. The eco-friendly neighborhood restaurant features recycled chairs and a bar of reclaimed wood, but people come here for the beer list of 30 drafts and a cocktail selection that highlights locally named concoctions, including the Centre Street, Canary Shandy and Arborway. The menu presents sophisticated American comfort food, with a flat-iron steak made better when introduced to roasted eggplant. But some dishes, like the baked mac ‘n’ cheese served with Grafton cheese and ham, fall short. Deviled eggs, fried bread and butter pickles, marinated olives and fluke crudo are among the starters. Don't miss the sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream, well worth the indulgence.
