Chiba Restaurant Review:

All things are possible when traditional Japanese cooking is prepared with a New Orleans twist. That juxtaposition plays out in dishes such as short ribs tempura with crawfish gyoza, and a "Crescent City” roll with fried oysters, lettuce, tomato and pickles. The more classic items are better, such as pork belly steamed buns, noodle soups, salmon teriyaki and a wide variety of rolls, including specialty rolls. For example, "Let the Good Times Roll" features crispy shrimp, crab, cucumber and tuna. Chiba doesn't offer desserts and the wine selections are few (although there are three Champagnes by the glass), so consider the dozens of saké options. The place excels with its cocktails, especially the coconut mojito and the "Saketini." Happy hour, or the “Funk and Roll” hour, runs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily (reduced-price rolls and drinks), and a "Reverse" happy hour takes place during the last hour that the restaurant is open. All day and all night happy hour is on Wednesday, and cold saké bottles are half price on Thursdays.
