Downtown office workers looking to fill up midday with stick-to-your-ribs comfort food need turn no further than Dad's on J. The interior isn't much, with an open kitchen and a long, narrow dining room. But despite the lack of ambience the place draws a standing-room-only crowd. The menu is pretty basic, offering burgers, sandwiches and salads, all of which are prepared with fresh ingredients and many with creative twists. The Angry Road Man has turkey, bacon and Swiss with grilled peppers and onions, while the Lockdown sports chicken, bacon, blue cheese and mushrooms. Come before 11 a.m. to indulge in one of the many breakfast sandwiches, such as the Big Daddy with eggs, tri-tip and mushrooms.
