Especially late at night, but any time for that matter, there is no place we enjoy more than Dee Felice Café. Located just across the Ohio River bridge in downtown Covington, Kentucky, you might feel you have stepped back into one of the town's legendary old honky-tonks. Indeed you have, since the family of the late Emidio (Dee) de Felice keeps the legacy alive with the help of a knowledgeable kitchen crew and a crack serving team. Dee Felice Café is a handsome renovation of a turn-of-the-century drugstore, with a lofty pressed-tin ceiling and black-and-white tile floors. Live entertainment is the rule on the stage above the bar (Dixieland jazz and swing), and it reinforces the New Orleans theme of the menu, with Cajun specialties that are very spicy. This is one of the rare places where blackening is done well. Dee's Italian heritage is evident in the pastas, steaks are beyond reproach and the silky halibut with lobster butter could make you swoon.
