Diesel Cafe Restaurant Review:

The sleekest entry in Davis Square's coffeehouse sweepstakes is owned by three former employees of Toscanini's Ice Cream. Presumably, they drank a lot of joe and did a lot of thinking at their old job, because the high-ceilinged, chrome-edged space became an instant destination for Somerville's young and cool. Java is the obvious draw, which comes in the form of lattes, cappuccinos and café au lait, but there's also a grab bag of creative wrap sandwiches like smoked salmon with Gouda and honey mustard, leafy salads (with a scoop of tuna, chicken or tempeh) and pastries. Tables up front have a premium view of the street scene, while the couches and counters in the back are crammed with students intent on textbooks and laptops.
