Dreamland Bar-B-Que Restaurant Review:

This simple, somewhat hard-to-find worn structure is festooned with sundry local memorabilia, T-shirts on the ceiling, lots of red color (Roll Tide rules), and bar stools with the founder's image on the seat. John “Big Daddy” Bishop started his ribs restaurant in 1958, the same year Paul “Bear” Bryant began coaching at the University of Alabama, and both became legendary in their chosen fields. Big Daddy gained his fame by specializing in ribs with an addictive vinegary sauce and white bread to mop up the drippings. While limited sides and juicy sausage have become available in the past few years, purists still visit to devour toothsome ribs and dunk white bread in the zingy sauce, though some will now deign to add sausage as well. Potato salad dressed with mustard is favored over the beans or slaw. Fresh homemade banana pudding brings a smile, as do reruns of Bama games with fans avidly watching. And if you can’t make it to the restaurant, you can always have your ribs shipped by UPS.
