THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Farm Cafe Restaurant Review:

THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Farm Cafe’s romantic, shadowy dining room is charming despite a somewhat noisy bar. On pleasant days, head for the expansive, quiet patio garden. The daily changing menu is inspired by seasonally available ingredients. Although vegetables are always a major component, creative preparations and often rich sauces make dishes seem more luxurious than virtuous. Start with broccoli fritters paired with horseradish crème fraîche, or sautéed mushrooms in an herb butter sauce. Follow it with a butter lettuce salad tossed with a creamy blue cheese dressing. For mains, the homemade ravioli stuffed with Portland Creamery feta and preserved lemon is a winner, as are the eggplant-based veggie burger and the grilled tofu with mashed potatoes. Pescatarians will enjoy sautéed Manila clams in a garlic wine sauce or grilled trout. For the determined carnivore, there's always a (locally grown) lamb dish. Desserts are veggie-centric, too, as in a zucchini cake. Craft cocktails such as The Goldenrod, a blend of sparkling wine, elderflower liqueur, lemon juice and a twist of orange, are inventive and generously poured; wine and beer lists are extensive. Expect a wait on weekends or summer evenings, but at any time, count on friendly although sometimes leisurely service.
