Felix's Restaurant & Oyster Bar Restaurant Review:
Oysters reign supreme in New Orleans’ dining scene, and Felix’s is a well-known destination for them and so much more. Competing fiercely with Acme Oyster House across the street, this French Quarter seafood destination is best approached as a speedier alternative for getting a dozen or so cold, freshly shucked oysters, rather than anticipated as a true sit-down experience. Walk in and elbow your way to a spot at the oyster bar where the rapidly moving shuckers stand ready to serve; watching them work enhances the oyster enjoyment. Don’t leave without trying the turtle soup, the shrimp po’ boy or the house gumbo, which can hold its own with the best restaurants in the French Quarter. The sweet potato fries are strictly Southern. If you want the full New Orleans experience, stay for a huge slice of red velvet cake. For a quaff, there is a small wine list, but we suggest you pop a cold brew.
