Gazala's Restaurant Review:

Gazala’s, named for chef-proprietor Gazala Halabi, is reminiscent of a bustling but cozy village restaurant one might find in her native Israel. Celebrating the Druze culinary tradition, the menu is representative of Middle Eastern fare, recalling Moroccan, Israeli, Turkish and other regional dishes. Appetizers feature traditional home-style hummus moudammas (with fava beans), hummus mosabaha (with chickpeas), hummus with tahini, and hummus with mushrooms along with baba ghanouj and tabbouleh. Hot appetizers range from classic falafel to Moroccan meat and potato "cigars." There are also Druze renditions of Italian pizza: baked whole-wheat pita bread topped with Middle Eastern cheeses, meats, vegetables and spices. Large plates are on offer as well, with moshakal, a combination of broiled lamb, chicken and kafta, served with salad and rice, and a whole grilled barbounia fish. For a satisfying sweet end, try the date and walnut cookies or made-to-order kenafi, pastry topped with cheese and honey.
