Ippudo Westside Restaurant Review:
The only difference between this uptown sister restaurant to the downtown ramen shop is an important one: no line. Where nabbing a seat at the East Village location can run you two hours, this midtown outpost is roomier, but the noodles they're ladling, thankfully, bear no variance from those at their brethren. The same Japanese greetings are hollered across the dining room when guests enter, and the menu is a hair briefer. Pork buns are the standby, paired with a Sapporo on draft or a shochu cocktail with fresh-squeezed grapefruit to cut the fat. Next you'll be ready for your steaming bowl (and the chorus announcing it) of spicy akamaru ramen. They'll tell you to stir in the chili paste, as if you needed the reminder.
