Jerusalem Restaurant Restaurant Review:

It doesn’t look like much, but that hasn’t stopped Denverites from flocking to this Middle Eastern eatery for the past 35-plus years. The food is fresh and cheap. On a hot day, start with the refreshing cucumber salad: cubes of cucumber tossed with yogurt, mint, garlic and lemon juice. There are many entrées, sandwiches and vegetarian options to choose from and, of course, no meal is complete here without a side of lemon-kissed hummus. You won’t miss with the traditional gyro: a huge pita stuffed with rotisserie-broiled, Mediterranean spice-rubbed beef filet, onions, parsley and sumac, then rolled up in paper that, when unwrapped, serves as your plate and placemat. For something lighter, try the equally generous pita sandwich filled with baba ghanouj. The best way to top it all off is with a short walk over to the dessert case; our advice is to go with the longtime favorite: flaky, honeyed baklava.
