THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Jewel Bako Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant & décor: “Jewel Bako” is the Japanese pronunciation of “jewel box,” and an apt name for this precious gem. Seats are hard to come by in the highly stylized, tiny tunnel of a dining room, lined with bamboo. Sit at the sushi bar if you can and let the chef ply you with his omakase creations --- expensive but worth every penny.

Food & Drinks: The food is as precious as the space. Exotic Japanese mushrooms come "en papillote," while the restaurant’s riff on the ubiquitous tartare appetizer is a trio featuring tuna, yellowtail and salmon. There’s also a large roll of scallops with yuzu, avocado and chives. For dessert, consider the matcha ice cream sandwich. An extensive list of wine and saké is available, too.
