La Nonna Ristorante & Bar Restaurant Review:

With its high wood-beamed ceiling and wood floors, it’s hard to believe that this 130-seat Williamsburg restaurant hasn’t been around for a few (or more) decades. But step outside and look up and you’ll see La Nonna is housed in a modern apartment building on the waterfront. Chef Cono Morena straddles a culinary line between rustic and inventive fare. However you define what comes out of the kitchen, it’s hard to go wrong. Start with the creamy, refreshing burrata or the grilled octopus, which strays from the usually crispy-on-the-outside take; instead, it’s tender and soft all the way through. Winning pasta courses include a toothsome polenta gnocchi (intermingling with guanciale and mushrooms) and a raviolo, one giant truffle-topped dumpling stuffed with mushrooms and a lightly cooked egg. For something heartier, try the ultra-tender lamb chops, spiked with honey and goat cheese. Save room for dessert: the pistachio crème brûlée is addictive. The affordable wine list --- there are good selections by the glass and the bottle --- spans the globe.
