A throwback to the late 1980s when South Beach was just a beach destination and an exotic location for European fashion photographers and models (who worked and played till the wee hours and craved simple yet sophisticated sustenance), French-owned and operated La Sandwicherie has style to spare. Locals and tourists still crowd into the tiny original outdoor snack bar until 5 a.m. for sandwiches so evocative they're like a trip to Paris enclosed in a crusty baguette. Authentic fillings like saucisson sec (which is either imported rosette de Lyons or a dead ringer) and an honest country pâté are all garnished with tangy real cornichons (not sweet gherkins) plus a mound of fresh salad dressed with an addictive mustard-Champagne vinaigrette.
