THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED NAMES Las Ramblas Restaurant Review:
Situated at the River Walk level of the upscale Hotel Contessa, Las Ramblas trades heavily on location and boasts details in tile and wrought iron that evoke the Barcelona of Gaudí. Chefs have shifted but the menu remains at least nominally focused on Spanish selections as exemplified in the “butcher board” for two with its sausages and cheeses. Pan asado, basically a toasty cheese bread with various other toppings, has made an appearance; other traditional tapas have disappeared. Yes, there’s the obligatory paella or three, a strip loin may be had with a chorizo piperade, and grouper comes graced with a sherried sauce. But for diners not feeling especially español there is the “Alamo” rib-eye with onion “hoops.” We’d go for patatas bravas as a side regardless. Iberian offerings have increased on the wine list, though more would still be welcomed.
