Lola's Restaurant Review:

Glendale may be the enticing epicenter of Armenian cooking in greater Los Angeles, but its downtown also boasts the diverse flavors of South America, with Brazilian, Argentine and Peruvian eateries all thriving on Brand Boulevard. Among these, Lola's is a casual but comfortable place with an open kitchen, linen-topped tables, folk art and travel posters on worn brick walls. The specialty, pollo a la brasa, a tender bird roasted golden-brown in a wood-fired oven and served with garlicky dipping sauce, is certainly worth exploring. Better still is shredded chicken in a red chile-tinted cream sauce. Starters include a variety of ceviches and the classic dish, papas huancainas---potatoes bathed in a velvety, chile-inflected cheese sauce. Finish a reasonably priced meal with a good flan or picarones---pumpkin and sweet potato fritters with honey.
