Luz Restaurant Review:

In a former garage sleekly tarted up by a couple of Pratt Institute grads, Luz turns Nuevo Latino cuisine on its head with exciting creations based on traditional dishes. Start with a selection of citrusy ceviches; arepas filled with cilantro pesto and feta cheese; Peruvian shrimp chowder; and spicy red pepper-glazed salmon. The meal is rounded out with juicy Peruvian rotisserie chicken and cranberry glazed pork ribs cooked in a tender St. Louis barbecue style. Latin soups made with shellfish, saffron and sometimes coconut are served as either appetizers or main courses. A creative mix of cocktails --- icy mojitos and warmed sangría dosed with nutmeg and cinnamon --- accompanies cavas and wines from Spain, Argentina and other Latin countries.
