Maddalena Restaurant Restaurant Review:

This family-oriented eatery is located inside the San Antonio Winery. Believe it or not, there used to be acres upon acres of vineyards in what is now downtown L.A., and although they've since been paved over, this complex is still a working winery (the grapes are shipped in from other parts of the state). The woodsy dining room, complete with huge wine casks and a sawdust-covered floor, is a pleasant place to hang out before or after the requisite cellar tour or visit to the tasting room. The modified cafeteria-style service offers reasonably good pastas (lobster ravioli, spaghetti and meatballs, linguine with scampi) as well as focaccia sandwiches, salads and chicken, lamb and steaks. The restaurant closes around 7 p.m. or 8 p.m., so it's primarily a lunch destination. Naturally, the winery's own wines --- the San Antonio, Riboli Family and Maddalena labels, among others --- are served.
