Matt Denny's Alehouse Restaurant Review:

This downtown Arcadia establishment, named for the legendary son of an Irish sea captain, renews our faith in brewpubs. In addition to an ornately detailed wooden bar, it has walls decorated with logos from beer producers in Oregon and the former Czechoslovakia. There are more than 30 beers offered, from esoteric craft brews to large international producers. Owners Matthew McSweeny and Dennis Hartman have compiled a vast menu based on recipes Matt Denny supposedly developed while traveling in the Caribbean, Mexico and the Pacific Northwest. Eclectic offerings include beer-battered shrimp with chipotle mayonnaise; a “nacho mountain”; sandwiches like pastrami or buffalo chicken; pub favorites such as fish ‘n’ chips; and house specialties Guinness potpie and grilled baby-back ribs. You can finish with an all-American root beer float, and this is one pub that also caters to kids.
