Orso Restaurant Review:

This two-level Restaurant Row trattoria attracts the Broadway theater crowd, including actors both famous and obscure. It's the sister restaurant to Joe Allen, the more known spot right across the street. Golden walls and white tablecloths make for a comfortable, cheerful space. Start with the rosemary-olive oil pizza bread or potato and ricotta gnocchi in tomato and basil sauce with buffalo milk mozzarella. Move on to main courses like grilled salmon with a lemon zest risotto; cast-iron roasted, grass-fed steak with mashed potatoes and spinach; or oven-roasted half free-range chicken in white wine and lemon sauce. Grilled lamb chops pair with roasted potatoes. Pumpkin cheesecake may cap the meal. House Pinot Grigio and Primitivo are served by the quarter liter; the rest of the wine list ventures around Italy, from Piemonte to Sicily.
