Located in a downtown office building's food court, Pallino Pastaria is an upscale bistro with appeal for hungry weekday workers. High ceilings, tiled floors, and dark wood add touches of elegance to this fast, yet quality Italian hot-spot. The chef operates an innovative Swiss-made machine that portions, cooks, and drains a serving of pasta in 90 seconds. Diners may choose their favorite style noodle and match it with numerous sauces, such as Fontina, Parmesan and Gorgonzola cheeses; bacon and peas in a garlicky white wine cream sauce; or pungent puttanesca with olives, capers, hot peppers, tomatoes, anchovies and garlic. Include a salad or choose the soup-and-panino route. Breakfast choices include a panino with scrambled eggs. The Italian-style coffee and friendly staff are a plus.
