Papatzul Restaurant Review:

This under-the-radar SoHo restaurant brings a bite of Mexico City to the Big Apple. The tasteful room --- highlighted by a long skylight in the back --- has a casual atmosphere. The menu is refreshingly filled with items you don’t find at your average Mexican eatery (at least not in New York). The eponymous enchilada, for example, comes with boiled eggs (and tastes a lot better than it sounds). Huitlacoche, “the Mexican truffle,” makes an appearance in corn and poblano enchiladas with creamy tomatillo salsa, while the budin al pasilla is a lasagna-like dish of shredded chicken, beans, Oaxaca cheese and tortillas. Be sure to pair the food with a shot (or three) of tequila, of which there’s an impressive selection of brands and varieties.
