Park Tavern Restaurant Review:

Restaurateur Anna Weinberg and chef Jennifer Puccio (Marlowe, The Cavalier) pack them in at this spacious, upscale tavern in North Beach. There is a long and storied history behind the 110-seat dining room, the former home of Moose's, across the street from Washington Square Park. Design nods include bistro tile flooring, vintage photos and a dedicated bar stool at the restaurant's Carrara marble bar for late restaurateur Ed Moose. "Jenn's Classics" include smoked deviled eggs, Brussels sprout chips and "PT Fries" topped with truffle, soft-cooked egg and caviar. If you can't get enough of truffles, continue with the poulet noir with truffle butter, braised Swiss chard and truffled jus. Desserts are endearing, such as a monthly rotating "birthday cake," wherein the employee celebrating that month's birthday picks the flavor. Wines have been carefully curated to please modest and more sophisticated palates. Brunch is very popular, for the drinks menu as much as for the sometimes savory, sometimes sweet and always sophisticated dishes.
