Piccolo Angolo Restaurant Review:

Located on --- you guessed it --- a small corner in the West Village, Piccolo Angolo is old-school Italian at its finest, in terms of both cuisine and the warm, welcoming atmosphere you'd expect in a decades-old family-run business. Catering to locals and tourists in the know, the medium-size, brick-walled room fills up quickly, so come early or make a reservation. For appetizers, start with the prosciutto and cheese-stuffed mushrooms or the mussels Lucciano in white wine and garlic. Entrées are dominated by the classics: cannelloni bolognese, stuffed with spinach and a rich beef and veal sauce; meat lasagna with either a meat or porcini mushroom sauce; whole branzini; and roasted wild boar when it's available. Portions are generous, including those for the homemade desserts. The wine list is extensive and very reasonably priced.
