Orthodox women and children crowd onto long tables for lunch, as do doctors and nurses (from nearby Mount Sinai hospital) and South Beach socialites. This colorful, kosher melting pot place serves some of the most authentic Middle Eastern food in Miami. Among the mix of Moroccan, Israeli and Turkish items on the menu, the best bets are the beautifully-spiced fried falafel patties or the shwarma. Try either on a laffa-wrapped sandwich; the bread is like pita (which is also available) but larger, with a unique fluffy-chewy texture that makes it well worth the extra two bucks. House-made hummus is good by itself, and far tastier topped with homemade tahini. The menu, which has expanded over the years, also includes sushi, but since makis are about twice the price of those at average sushi bars and no better, this option is really only of interest to customers who keep kosher.
