Restaurant Nicholas Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant and décor: Nicholas Harary and his wife Melissa, who sharpened their restaurant skills at Manhattan establishments such as Jean-Georges and Tabla, grace New Jersey with a very fine dining experience: a blend of sophisticated surroundings, professional service and remarkable New American food. Red and orange glass chandeliers, by local artisan Belle Mead Hot Glass, are complemented by chairs and banquettes in similar tones.

About the food: The menu is seasonal so expect the best products the time of year has to offer, perhaps asparagus and foraged mushrooms with aged sherry cream to start. You may encounter mains such as butter-poached lobster with sweet potato and ginger “bisque” and jasmine sticky rice, or bourbon braised suckling pig with apple jalapeño purée, toasted pecans and maple syrup. End with dark chocolate mousse, red wine poached figs, crème fraîche and chocolate ice cream for dessert. An à la carte “bar menu” is available. Otherwise, the menus are prix-fixe; choose a three-course menu ($75), the four-course garden (vegetarian) menu ($75) or the chef's tasting menu ($95). A chef's table located in the kitchen accommodates four people for a grand tasting menu ($150).

About the wine: From personalized, spot-on wine recommendations to the elegant farewell gift bag containing freshly baked banana bread, dining at Restaurant Nicholas is an unforgettable occasion. Nicholas Harary also created Nicholas Wines, a retail online wine store that ships nationwide.
