A sure crowd-pleaser, Uncle Julio's delights every generation with its lusty fare and happy ambience. It's one of the few local places where high decibel levels really do not distract. Weekend nights are jam-packed. But in the end, everyone is served a gratis chips-and-dip combo. Enchiladas, tacos, sizzling fajitas, chiles rellenos, and even broiled quail emerge with baskets of freshly baked tortillas from the kitchen. We like the luncheon El Dorado soft tacos and at night select a tortilla soup, carne asada main course, and the killer chocolate flan for dessert. That's calorie-loading with a good purpose. Décor is somewhat corny soft-sell Tex-Mex, but it's all for good fun. Other locations.
