Rock & Brews PCH Restaurant Review:

South Bay restaurant magnate Mike Zislis and Kiss frontman Gene Simmons partnered to finance this simple concept of burgers, pizza and beer amid loud rock music. What started as one location in El Segundo has become a growing chain. At its massive Redondo Beach iteration, there’s a full bar, but we recommend choosing from the impressive beer list that includes several Belgian brews. The menu starts with a giant soft pretzel and "London Calling" calamari, but the Asian spicy wings are the real winner --- a vinegar-based sauce with plenty of acid and a touch of sweetness to balance the heat coats the meaty wings. Salads can be skipped, unless one feels health-conscious, as this is the only option. Burgers are decently executed, particularly the "Ultimate," which comes layered with caramelized onions, cheddar, pickles and Thousand Island dressing. Pizzas are sizeable and a good value, with toppings such as pulled pork, bell peppers, mozzarella and Gouda. For dessert, go straight to the "Purple Rain" chocolate drops --- donuts filled with raspberry sauce and served with whipped cream. Other locations.
