Saigon Grill Restaurant Review:

Consistent, mid-level Vietnamese cooking is tough to find. The cuisine requires quality ingredients but many high-end restaurants muddy the waters by treating the food as a culinary jumping-off point to Western fare. Perhaps that’s why Saigon Grill remains a draw: it offers simple, authentic Vietnamese dishes at a high volume (it’s not because of the décor, which includes plastic plants and flat-screens tuned to ESPN). The extensive menus present something for everyone---try the barbecue spare ribs with plum ponzu dipping sauce; the first-rate bun xao stir-fried rice noodles; and the thin bone-in pork chops. Some of the sauce-heavy dishes can get a bit soupy, so the lighter preparations tend to be superior overall (save for the dense and crispy pork spring rolls). Dessert is skippable---have a Vietnamese iced coffee instead.
