Saxon + Parole Restaurant Review:

Named for two turn-of-the-century race horses, this Bowery restaurant exudes a nice blend of rustic and chic. The design is meant to evoke a stable and a barn. That is, if the barn were owned by Ralph Lauren. The thoughtful wine list has special sections of wines that go particularly well with briny oysters and another section for varietals and vineyards off the well-imbibed path. A round of oysters with some charcuterie or the mushroom mousse with toasts leads well into the ricotta gnudi or whole branzino stuffed with fennel. S’mores pudding accented with whiskey barrel-smoked marshmallow begs to be paired with the barrel-aged Manhattans that are on tap.
