Senate Restaurant Review:

If you can have a power lunch of beer and hot dogs, this is the place to do it. The menu itself is entertaining, with hot dog names like Hello Kitty 2.0 (with a kick of wasabi). Or get the "trailer park" dog (bacon-wrapped, draped in American cheese and topped with coleslaw and crushed Grippo’s potato chips). Then again, you can always order a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a slice of foie gras slipped inside. The "street and savory" menu features a braised lobster BLT and an Angus burger with caramelized onions and house-made pickles. And fries? Look for duck-fat, truffle and lobster mac ‘n’ cheese varieties. Meanwhile, poutine comprises french fries, local cheese curds, braised short rib and gravy. Split an order for the table and they might even name a hot dog after you. Old-fashioned cocktails like the Streetcar (apricot brandy, walnut-infused Cognac and soda) or a craft beer pair nicely with the finger foods. Sunday brunch has a sense of humor. How about Oreo pancakes or Banana Captain Crunch french toast?
