Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Review:

Great views of the Chicago River, prime outdoor seating and a massive, American-minded wine list earn points for this boisterous, upscale Big Apple steakhouse, located in a two-story building between Marina City's twin corncobs. The wood-trimmed dining rooms --- which ring with the sound of clanking plates --- attract a business clientele that's tended to by a platoon of well-informed, uniformed servers. The dry-aged steaks and chops are of top quality, but in a city flush with carnivorous fare we've found better versions exist. Seafood is an attractive, decadent alternative, such as in the tower for six piled with lobster, Alaskan king crab, oysters and clams, and chilled shrimp to make it truly a special occasion. On the side? Truffled mac ‘n’ cheese. If you are hankering for meat, pick the tender Gorgonzola-crusted steak, or for the wow factor, the 44-ounce Snake River Farms Swinging Tomahawk rib-eye, one of three steaks to share. As for desserts, they’re oversized and what you’d expect from a steakhouse: carrot or chocolate cake. The cozy downstairs grill has an all-day menu with marginally lower prices.
