Spunto Restaurant Review:

At this West Village pizzeria, you’ll find a casual, comfortable atmosphere filled with lunchtime office workers and a somewhat rowdy after-work crowd who flock here for the ultra-thin pizzas---more of an authentically Italian pizza experience. The pies here run the gamut between exotic (the chicken-topped Chixpotle mixes Mexican and Italian ingredients) and the traditional (spicy meatball, margherita, mushroom). The simpler the better. The main problem, however, is that Spunto’s crust is so thin that classic Roman pizzas look Neapolitan in comparison; in fact, it doesn’t offer enough substance and the sauce isn’t sweet enough, leaving the diner wanting more. And if that’s the case, there are hearty sandwiches on offer and big salads as well.
