Reston’s Tavern 64 is a farm-to-table concept with a rustic feel to its décor and a menu that focuses on local sourcing for most of its goods, from wines to sausages. With such diverse dishes, the challenge is figuring out what to select. For starters, try the pork belly served with a sweet potato cake: the meat is tender and succulent, and seasoned gently enough to highlight the pork flavor. In recognition of the adjacent Chesapeake and its abundant seafood, consider a bowl of the Bay Chowder replete with crabs, clams and rockfish. The watermelon and arugula salad with fried goat cheese refreshes the palate before entrées of barbecued short ribs with mac ‘n’ cheese (a must if you like beef) and the rockfish with jalapeño-cheddar grits. Other options include free-range chicken breast, scallops with bacon, and monkfish with assorted vegetables on the side.
