THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Trentina Restaurant Review:

Jonathon Sawyer’s sixth restaurant pays homage to the food of Trentino, Italy, from which his wife, Amelia, and her family hail. Ingredients from local purveyors and Ohio farmers are a big part of the menu and help to elevate the quality of each dish while incorporating important elements of authentic Italian cuisine. The space is lavish but also relaxed, with clean lines and powerful artwork. Start with the pickles, cheese and charcuterie, a tasty sampling of house-cured meats, farmhouse cheeses, crispy polenta and pickled vegetables. From there, the wood-fired mushroom pizza is outstanding with its fonduta and kale. For a pasta course, we like house-made bucatini with heirloom tomato butter, Soave white wine and Parmesan. Entrées include heartier picks like an Ohio strip steak or a red wine duck leg. You really can’t go wrong with any of Sawyer’s dishes, but the mains featuring area-sourced products tend to stand out. Desserts change frequently, but anything with chocolate is usually a satisfying finish. The beverage program highlights old-world wines, Italian beers and craft spirits. The restaurant offers a drinks pairing option in conjunction with its twelve-course Menu Bianco, too. Sunday brunch is popular.
