THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Uncle Boon's Restaurant Review:

Uncle Boon’s is a dark quasi-subterranean, grotto-like eatery that’s perfect for a date or an intimate dinner, especially if you and your bon vivant like northern Thai food. This isn’t your typical Thai place. There’s no choice of meat, which one finds at most of the substandard Thai restaurants in New York (outside of Queens, anyway). And be prepared to pay a lot more than at those other establishments. With that in mind, dishes can be hit or miss. The red curry corn flakes were underwhelming; so was the green mango salad, which offered zero spiciness. Khao soi, however, would bring us back again and again: yellow curry enveloping an ultra-tender chicken leg amidst egg noodles and mustard greens. Anything grilled is also a good bet, especially the exploding-with-flavor Issan pork and rice sour sausage. There’s only one dessert, a coconut ice cream sundae, and it’s worth anticipating to end the meal. Drinks include wine at a hefty price and several beers on tap.
