Meriwether's Restaurant Review: Housed in an historic building, Meriwether's takes farm-to-table literally: each week a fresh sheet lists items harvested at its nearby farm, ranging from Red Sails lettuce to romanesco cauliflower. These ingredients and more inspire the chef, which results in an eclectic menu. Halibut may be paired with cauliflower purée, beluga lentils and squid ink vinaigrette, while roasted chicken appears with farro, romano beans and pineapple tomatillo. Or choose a "pantry board" of small plates that may include Gorgonzola-stuffed dates, lamb ribs, grilled sardines or a roasted beet terrine. This inventive spirit continues at brunch with omelets, Greek pizza, scallop-hazelnut salad, and a quiche Lorraine prepared with house-made pancetta. Dessert may feature grilled pineapple rum cake or lemon cheesecake. The wood-paneled dining room is cozy, but the garden is a knockout. A covered patio shields against rain, while heaters and a fire pit ward off the cold. Service is friendly if occasionally haphazard.
