It is just impossible to live through a Sacramento summer without a Merlino’s orange freeze. Think we are exaggerating? Try one the next time it’s 105 in the shade, and you’ll know exactly what we mean. A Merlino’s freeze is hard to describe if you’ve never had one. Start with fresh-squeezed orange juice, add a little water and a little sugar, stir and freeze---bliss! To say it’s like a Slurpee is to say an icy mountain stream is like a glass of lukewarm water. Oh, they have burgers and hot dogs, too, but they’re all forgettable.
