Serving a cross-section of suburbia, this gleaming-metal diner sticks to diner tradition with hearty budget meals. Patrons can settle into a comfy booth or perch at the counter for an eating marathon. Start with french toast and Belgian waffles (the latter with sausages, Canadian bacon or two scoops of ice cream), muffins and omelets, or pancakes with all the trimmings. For mid- to late-day savories, count on finding overstuffed sandwiches (our favorite: the Reuben deluxe with gobs of melted cheese and sauerkraut). Also try the baked Virginia ham, sirloin steak, Italian specialties and entrée-sized salads. Stick around for dessert, if you want a towering slice of homemade pie, cake, diet-busting pastry, gooey banana royale or a comforting, calorie-dense sundae. This is a bit of delicious, homey Americana.
