THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED MetroVino Restaurant Review: MetroVino's name is most apt: it's a quintessentially urban place, with an emphasis on wine. A literal wall of wine has a high-tech Enomatic system for storing open bottles, allowing a choice of more than 90 wines available by the glass. The bar menu features several inventive and oft-changing flights, such as Chardonnay Smackdown and Walla Walla Reds. The menu is equally expansive, and highlights unusual and regional ingredients. Interestingly, the "bone luge," which is sherry sipped through a roasted marrow bone, has earned the bar a claim to fame. It's gained many enthusiasts, but those who prefer a less vampirish start to their meal might want to try the charcuterie plate or an octopus salad. For dinner, go for the duck leg confit accompanied by hazelnut romesco, the salmon in a delicate coconut/lemon grass broth with pistachio aïoli, or --- in a rare salute to vegetarians --- the chickpea fritter with curried summer beans, cucumber yogurt and onion jam. Choose from a wide selection of artisanal cheese or sweets such as chocolate espresso cake or brown sugar-vanilla bean crème brûlée for dessert. In warm weather, dine on the protected outdoor patio and enjoy Portland's lively street scene. There's a nice beer list, too.
