Mexicali Brewz Cantina & Spirits Restaurant Review: There’s a lot going on in this little tin-roofed eatery --- cornhole tournaments outside, a guitar player or two in the yard and a lively crowd at the bar. The traditional Tex-Mex menu is simple, fresh, well prepared and, in recent seasons, expanded: along with Mexicali's fresh salsa and guacamole to go with the chips, you'll find ceviche listed as an appetizer along with black bean cakes and honey habanero wings. Fish tacos are available, too, as well as several quesadilla and burrito offerings plus carne asada, tequila-lime shrimp and a pan-fried 'pescado plate' (fish of the day) and pasta la vista (pasta of the night). Fresh salads like the Shrimp Salad Santa Fe with smoked jalapeños, black beans, tomatoes and shrimp, and sandwiches including several burger options round out the menu. With something happening almost every night of the week, Mexicali is definitely out to spice up your life. |
