The chumminess and efficiency at Michael's help to put the customers in a positive mood about the menu, which covers the usual bases for this species of informal restaurant. Hamburgers (but no po' boys), chicken breast, beefsteak and grilled fish (but no seafood platters) are the most frequently seen dishes, along with a toothsome tortilla soup, respectable salads and an unusually good cup of coffee. Tread carefully when you're in the part of the menu listing local dishes. The jambalaya here is not unlike what we used to call Spanish rice. Off-white paint, rows of maroon booths and varnished wood define the decor, and service is a cut above the norm for such casual dining rooms.
