This little treasure at the entrance to Shelter Island is a genuine find, thanks to the efforts of chef/proprietor Stefano Potzolu, who prepares a wide variety of regional Italian specialties that includes Sardinian-style stuffed pasta in a subtle red wine sauce and no further than three versions of osso bucco, including one dressed with a pungent, love-it-or-hate-it anchovy sauce (try it, you’ll quite possibly like it!). The orange-and-arugula salad makes a lovely lead-in to pasta or two daily fish, meat and game specials; there also are excellent wood-fired pizzas for diners in a more casual mood. The wine list is varied and includes some beautifully affordable, wonderfully drinkable Italian bottles.
