Michelangelo's Restaurant Review: Lodged in an old two-story house, this vintage-1969 Montrose hideaway features all the creature comforts that make a quiet night out memorable, including---get this---a huge oak tree jutting through the rooftop of the main dining room. The menu may not follow today's trends, but customers who come to this Italian eatery aren't following trends. They want solid, wholesome dishes like cannelloni Pavarotti stuffed with spinach and veal; rigatoni Socerro with Italian sausage and a creamy pesto sauce; and piccata di pollo, chicken sautéed in lemon-butter and wine. Beyond the Americanized Italian foods, Michelangelo's offers several creative concoctions, such as the ziti al pesto con pollo with basil pesto, pine nuts, sun-dried tomatoes and grilled chicken. Also, there's the linguine nuevo that seems to pay tribute to New Orleans with crawfish, tomatoes, peppers, green onions, celery, olive oil and garlic. Expect live piano music most nights. |
