Great Wine List

The less Midtown changes, the better it seems to fare. Luxurious yet sleek décor invites all, yet several higher level tables are favorite haunts for country stars and the folks who produce and market them. Old standards such as the lemon artichoke soup and crab cakes have lingered a long while under the rule of Nashville restaurateur Randy Rayburn. On the entrées list, there are several veal options; we recommend the veal three-way sampler, selecting morsels from piccata, Oscar and saltimbocca to compose a singular experience. Otherwise, corporate executive chef Brian Uhl, with chef de cuisine Max Pastor, keeps it between the lines with grilled salmon and asparagus, potato gnocchi with sage and squash, pork tenderloin with sweet potatoes and other familiar dishes. When it's on the menu, we like the walnut-apple strudel, but the house-made apple tart is worth trying, too. Rayburn himself composes the wide-ranging wine list, which charts a course between the ordinary and the extraordinary, and often presents seasonal specials. A very good selection of wines by the glass is part of the scenario.
