 Mike Ditka returned to town in the form of an eponymous restaurant that scores big with locals and tourists alike. The food is vastly improved---creatively so---over what it was initially. And, yes, lots of cronies drop by hoping (an unlikely event) that Da Coach is around. The place is nicely quiet at breakfast and lunch, but expect a dull roar at dinner. We favor certain dishes: pot roast nachos, classic crab cakes, Italian wedding soup, meatloaf slathered with barbecue sauce and sustainable seafood. There is a certain swagger to the place, but it all works. We happen to think that Ditka's serves one of the best hamburgers---not to mention an awesome signature chop---around. Also located at Two Mid America Plaza in Oak Brook Terrace.
