THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Mike Gordon Seafood Restaurant Restaurant Review: After 50 years on Miami Beach, it's easy to imagine Mike Gordon Seafood Restaurant's bygone era as a bustling hub of Florida dining. Boaters can still tie up at its dock and enter the old wood-frame house through the rear. Once inside, however, avoid the inexpensive commercial wines and stick to the well drinks; the Bloody Marys are terrific. Of seafood offerings, we found the crab cakes not so tasty, the New England clam chowder too thick and the seafood-stuffed-fish fillets overcooked. Happily, however, the stone crab claws and Florida lobsters are worthy dining companions. The Early Bird Special, served before sunset, attracts veteran Gordon gourmands in droves. Later, the restaurant buzzes with a mix of tourists, hipsters and young families.
