 Mike Shannon's Steak & Seafood Restaurant Review: At a steakhouse built around baseball, it makes sense to include menu items that are also American classics, like New England clam chowder and club sandwiches (lunchtime only), as well as fun variations like deep-dish upside-down apple pie. It’s to be expected that the huge portions the kitchen serves consist of only high-quality beef and fish. Most of the time, Mike Shannon’s comes off as an upscale steakhouse full of glittering people sitting amid glass-fronted cabinets where baseballs, bats and jerseys repose as objets d’art. But come game day, a thousand red-clad fans pack The Outfield, the casual outdoor patio facing Busch Stadium. The restaurant’s namesake, a former Cardinals third baseman, does his sports show from the restaurant after Friday home games and his family runs day-to-day operations. Service shines and bartending is topnotch. |
