| This is the original place in Daniel Darves' trio of restaurants (others are in Guilderland and Lake Placid), dating to 1996. Its wood-fired open kitchen turns out everything from individual specialty pizzas to Northern Italian grilled meats and seafood. The mood is set by a matte black exposed-pipe ceiling, cherry wood floors, granite-topped tables and a mirrored wall, all accented by four-foot-high amphora urns. The curved Euro bar was expanded to ring in 2011. Typical fare includes pollo ripieno (chicken breast stuffed with spinach, bell peppers, cheese and herbs), imaginative soups such as apple-zucchini-curry, and braised veal stew with forest mushroom-stuffed tortellini, chanterelle mushrooms and green peas in a truffle cream sauce. Coconut crème brûlée and chocolate mousse bombe are typical desserts. |
