This colorful eatery is the brainchild of a Johnson & Wales graduate trained in fine dining, and his wife---whose grandmother Milly worked in a Los Angeles deli for four decades. The full-service authentic New York-style delicatessen makes everything in-house except the bread, and the meats are flown in weekly from New York. The oversized matzoh ball takes up most of the space in the soup bowl, and the whitefish spread is so good that we buy more of it to take home. We also like the potato latkes with applesauce and sour cream, and the challah french toast. The array of omelets and other egg dishes come with home fries, toast or a bagel. The premium fish platters are accompanied by red onion, tomato, a bagel and cream cheese, and choice of salads---as are the extensive selection of cold and specialty sandwiches. Traditional homemade entrées such as meatloaf with gravy and liver with onions come with mashed potatoes, kasha varnishkes or fries and vegetables. Family bakery recipes inspired the carrot cake, rugalach and apple strudel.
